GEOGRAPHY :
With a surface area of 374 km2, Mayotte is the oldest of the islands in the Comoros archipelago and connects the Petite Terre and Grande Terre with a multitude of small islands.
POPULATION :
With over 160,000 inhabitants, the population density of this Territorial Collectivity (which aspires to become an administrative Department) is 428 inhabitants per km2 (its density was 252 inhabitants in 1991).
CLIMATE :
Tropical, with an average temperature of 25° (dry season from May to October).
ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES :
Mainly agriculture (ylang-ylang, cinnamon, vanilla), cottage industry and tourism (one of the largest, most beautiful lagoons in the world, with a surface area of 1,100 km2).
TRANSPORT :
Located 8,000 km away from metropolitan France, there are direct flights and flights via Réunion which take 10 or 12 hours.
